Know the Rules and Stand Out for the Right Reasons
Golf is a game with globally recognized rules and conduct expectations, known as etiquette, that all players must adhere to. These guidelines ensure a fair and smooth game while promoting safety. Failure to comply with these rules of conduct can lead to trouble or at least the disapproval of other players.
Golf etiquette starts with proper attire. Most golf courses do not allow men to wear gym pants or jeans, and they must wear collared shirts. Women should avoid playing in off-the-shoulder tops or shirts with spaghetti straps, and shorts and skirts should be at least knee-length.
The rules and etiquette of golf are overseen by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, and Scotland’s St. Andrews is widely known as the “Home of Golf.”
